Why these two bays work so well for families

  • Sheltered conditions: Both bays are protected, which usually means calmer surface and better visibility—ideal for beginners and kids.
  • Shoreline interest: Rocky outcrops and seagrass patches attract fish you can spot in just a few fin kicks.
  • Easy in/out: Swim ladders and floaty platforms (hello, lily pad!) make getting in and out of the water simple and fun.

Quick Map & Route

A typical luxury day sail pairs Little Bay for relaxed snorkeling and lily-pad lounging with Mullet Bay for postcard-blue water and wide sandy views. Conditions can vary, so your captain may choose the order to match the day’s wind and swell.

Stop 1: Little Bay — Calm water, rock reef, and lily-pad lounging

What you’ll see: Parrotfish, sergeant majors, blue tang, and the occasional turtle cruising the edge of the reef. Along the rocks you’ll find corals and schools of tiny baitfish that shimmer in the light—great for GoPro moments.

Why families love it

  • Gentle entry: Calm, shallow sections let beginners build confidence fast.
  • Close to the action: You don’t need to swim far for fish—perfect for shorter attention spans.
  • Floating lounge: Between swims, kids (and parents) can hang out on the lily pad or under the boat’s shade.

Tips

  • Stay near the rockier edges for the most fish activity.
  • Bring a rashguard for sun—water reflection is sneaky!
  • Point out “zones” to kids (boat, lily pad, reef line) so everyone knows their swimming bounds.

Stop 2: Mullet Bay — Turquoise water and wide-angle reef views

What you’ll see: Sandy patches dotted with reef structure where butterflyfish, grunts, and wrasse roam. Visibility is often excellent, making this spot great for wide, scenic views—think classic Caribbean blue.

Why families love it

  • Open, bright seascape that’s easy to navigate visually.
  • Plenty of room to spread out for confident swimmers while beginners stay close to the boat.
  • Perfect photo backdrop for those mask-line smiles.

Tips

  • Skirt the edges where sand meets reef—that’s where fish feed and hide.
  • Use a snorkel vest or noodle for newer swimmers; comfort = longer, happier water time.
  • Keep fins low to avoid stirring the sand (clouds reduce visibility).

Safety & Gear Guide

  • Briefing first: Listen to the captain’s safety and buddy instructions.
  • Stay visible: Bright rashguards or vests help crew spot swimmers quickly.
  • Reef-safe sunscreen: Apply 30+ minutes before you swim; reapply after towel-drying.
  • Mask fit: A quick defog (baby shampoo or anti-fog) and hair pulled clear of the seal = no leaks, no fuss.

Why a Luxury Day Sail Makes It Effortless

  • Comfort base: Shade, restroom, freshwater rinse, and a lily pad for breaks.
  • Chef-cooked lunch & open bar: Easy nutrition and hydration without leaving the bay.
  • All gear included: Quality masks, snorkels, fins—no packing stress.
  • Experienced crew: They read conditions, pick the calmest corners, and keep a close eye on swimmers.
